Hello world!

The purpose of this blog is to share my explorations into learning and customizing the Salesforce platform and to create a handy place where I can keep notes to myself that I may need to reference at some point in time. If anyone happens upon this information, I hope it is found to be useful as well!

My Intro to Salesforce

I will say that becoming a full-time Salesforce admin/developer was not even remotely on my foreseen career path. But over time, and as I started implementing more Excel programs for our company to use, it became the logical next step in my boss’s mind to place me into that position.

So as I began my journey to customize our platform I found that despite an abundance of information all over the place, there is a lack of information on how to work with the quirkiness that abounds with Salesforce, as well as specific and/or detailed solutions that seem to me to be critical solutions that would be readily available. In the Excel world we have hosts of Excel gurus who share their knowledge through YouTube, their own personal websites, and on message boards, and while there is a similar assistance network with Salesforce, there seems to be a gap between the most basic information, and detailed developer-speak documentation that leaves the average admin user scratching their head.

Because of this gap I have found that it takes me an inordinate amount of time to figure out working solutions. So in an effort to start documenting my findings, mostly as a repository for my own reference, I have launched this blog (my first blog). If you happen to stumble upon it and it helps you, well, I am delighted that I have been able to help. 🙂
